Designer and maker of fun stuff. I live in a floating shipping container, CH4 Tool Club.
Max McMurdo is a designer, author and TV presenter, you may recognise his creations from shows such as BBC’s Dragons' Den, CH4’s Amazing Spaces, Fill your house for free, Find it, Fix it, Flog it, Mortgage Free on Netflix, Nat Geo's Machine Impossible and ITV’s 10k Holiday Home. Most recently Max has been working with Discovery to film Cash in the spare room and the Weekend Workshop.
The Bedford-based furniture designer was beckoned by world-famous Sotheby’s auction house client to produce some of his shopping trolley chairs for a collaboration with Banksy for an exhibition and auction, with both pieces of art provoking viewers to consider the environmental impact of our throwaway, capitalist culture.
These days, he’s a highly influential, go-to TV presenter for product design and repurposing, personifying the whole craft recycling ethos and presenting it in a way that inspires even the most eco-resistant crafter. “I love that upcycling is accessible to everyone in some form, and is a positive, fun solution to our environmental issues.”
